| Review - Transformers - Rachael struck gold |
Actress Rachael Taylor underwent her own transformation from Aussie
soap star to Hollywood actress when she landed a plum role. The
young Tasmanian plays techno geek Maggie, and her Australian accent
stands out.
Bay also decided to add a second Australian accent, with Hugo
Weaving providing the voice of the leader of the evil Decepticons,
Megatron.
"It makes the film appropriate for a global audience," Taylor says.
The film was a massive leap for the young woman whose face may be
familiar from her short-lived role on the axed soapie Headland. With
her head shots tucked in the bottom of her bag, Taylor set her
sights on Los Angeles and struck gold with the Transformers role.
"I was extremely lucky, like most Australians in Hollywood," she
says. "Transformers was my first or second audition in LA . . . it
was an enormously big, scary jump."
